March, 2021:I treated myself to a new motor scooter at the end of last April, in 2020. The Covid 19 pandemic was just getting hot here in my area, and I could see that we weren't taking any trips for the year. I'd had a scooter before, but it had died about 4 years earlier and I just hadn't replaced it. My wife could see that I was missing riding, and she told me to go ahead and just get a new one.I had a leather jacket that I'd been using for years. It was comfy, and it was tough enough to be what I felt was decent protection for riding a motorcycle or scooter on city streets. Unfortunately, last September, the zipper on it broke, allowing it to unzip from the bottom up while I rode. The weather was still nice enough that I was riding to work, with a fleece jacket underneath my leather one, but with the broken zipper, that pretty well ended my riding for the year. You have to understand that I am a stickler for safety, so I refuse to ride even my scooter without proper motorcycle safety gear - jacket, helmet, gloves, the works. An accident at 35 MPH can chew you up almost as badly as one at 70 MPH, depending on the circumstances. So I started looking for a new leather jacket.I have been perusing Amazon.com, other websites, and my local motorsports stores since last September. I had pretty well narrowed my decision for a new jacket to this one and one other that was about $80, also here on Amazon. The $80 jacket went unavailable back in December, and it's page isn't even up any more, so I decided to order this one. It arrived Saturday.I'm so glad I got this jacket! The weather turned warm last week, so I changed the oil and tuned up my scooter on Saturday. Because the jacket came while I was getting my scooter ready for the year, I was able to take it out for a test ride after. That was all it took for the bug to get me. I had to ride it to work this morning, even though it was only 43 degrees. The ride was wonderful. The zip out liner kept me plenty warm (I have nice warm gauntlet-style gloves for this kink of weather). Without the liner on Saturday, I was plenty comfortable in the low 80's.I will say that I can see where some reviews complaining about the sleeves being too tight with the removable liner in are coming from. I'm a fairly small guy at 5'8" and 150 lbs, and not very muscular. The sleeves are comfortably snug on me with the liner in. I'm not complaining, they felt really nice this morning, but be aware that if you're a larger guy, this may not be the right jacket for you. I did choose my size based on the size chart sleeve length and the fact that I like my jackets to reach to just above my hips. This is the reason I've only given 4 stars for comfort and overall. I expected the jacket to be a bit more flexible at the waist than it is, so I can't get my keys in or out of my pants pocket with the jacket zipped up. I hoping that it will become more flexible with a little breaking in.The leather and the workmanship feel top-notch. The seams are solid and the leather is nice and heavy. It feels like it will take the abuse of sliding on the road instead of letting me get all chewed up if I'm ever in an accident, which is the biggest reason I got this jacket. I also like the snaps that hold the collar and other trim in place while riding. The pockets seem well made and are large enough to hold my over-sized smart phone easily. The removable liner is easy to take out and put back in.The bottom line is this: I'm very happy so far with this jacket and would recommend it, at the very least to others built like me.Edit July, 2022: I wrote that review a little over a year ago. The jacket has become somewhat more flexible. You always think "I'm a safe rider, nothing will happen," but today my jacket got tested for it's intended purpose. Someone cut me off, claiming not to see me. I locked my breaks up and laid the scooter down in my attempt to not hit them. I was only going 10-15 MPH because I was already slowing down for a red light, but still... My jeans ripped and I have a nice bit of road rash on my knee, and my gloves are a touch chewed up, but where I slid on my jacket isn't even scuffed. I'm a little sore, but the jacket performed beautifully to protect me from worse injury. If you have a similar build to me and ride a 2-wheel vehicle, I cannot recommend this jacket enough! It saved me a far worse injury this morning than I have.
